2010 Sierra Mar Vineyard Pinot Noir

Our first Sierra Mar Vineyard Pinot Noir comes from Gary Franscioni's new site, at the southern edge of the Santa Lucia Highlands appellation.  Gary planted Sierra Mar in 2007, and August West took its first fruit in 2010.  

The 2010 August West Sierra Mar Vineyard Pinot Noir is comprised entirely of the Swiss clone 23, also known as Mariafeld.  Clone 23 is interesting in that the cluster and berry sizes are much larger than most Pinot clones.  It always provides dark colors, very bright, fruity flavors with high acidity. Our 2010 Sierra Mar shows these characteristics and will mature slowly over the next 5 years.
