2018 Cortada Alta Vineyard Pinot Noir
In Stock
The Cortada Alta Vineyard is a site in the Santa Lucia Highlands that will be very famous someday. We're extremely fortunate it is owned by August West partner, John Peterson, and we have access to the fruit here while it is still a young vineyard. Planted in 2014 by Ruben Balderas, Cortada Alta is just coming into its own, with the variety of clones and terroir aspects all contributing differences to make it a complex and unique place.
Our 2018 Cortada Alta Vineyard Pinot Noir combines three different clones, Pommard, 23 and 667, from some of the highest blocks in all of the Santa Lucia Highlands. This is a larger-framed August West Pinot that will benefit from cellaring a few years. The spicy, mountain-influenced terroir comes through in the nose and palate with wild herbs and ripe berry fruit. The expected maturity window is between 2022 and 2030.
