2009 Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir

2009 SLH PN

Our second vintage of the August West Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is the 2009.  Unlike the 2008 version in which we blended in 5% from Garys' Vineyard, the '09 SLH PN is 100% from Rosella's Vineyard.  To differentiate this appellation blend from the single vineyard '09 Rosella's Vineyard PN, we produced this from a barrel selection of mostly press wine and one year old barrels.  This gave us a softer, more approachable wine than the single vineyard Rosella's which has more new oak and is made of almost all free run wine.  Although the '09 SLH Pinot is enjoyable right away, it will definitely improve with 1 to 4 years in the bottle.
