2010 Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir

The 2010 August West Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is comprised of 82% Rosella's Vineyard and 18% Garys' Vineyard.  This is only our 3rd ever SLH blend, which we introduced with the 2008 vintage.  2010 was the 6th harvest in a row of below normal summer temperatures, and the mid October picking dates were the latest we've seen in many years.  The last time California Pinot vineyards saw a year like this was in 1998.

After aging for 10 months in 35% new French oak barrels, we bottled the '10 SLH Pinot in mid July 2011.  Given its tight structure and fairly high acidity, we recommend giving this wine until mid 2012 to start opening up to show its full potential.
