2013 Rosella's Vineyard Chardonnay

2013 marks our ninth vintage of Rosella's Vineyard Chardonnay.  Since 2005, August West has produced between 1 ton and 1.5 tons of Dijon Clone 76 from Rosella's.  The growing year was marked by low rainfall, ideal spring, summer and fall weather, and an abundant crop size.  We harvested the Rosella's Chardonnay on October 4, a few weeks earlier than average for this site.  It was barrel fermented in neutral French oak, and it rested on its lees until bottling on October 30, 2014.

It's a very unique style of Chardonnay, with tropical fruit aromas and flavors that come through with some time in the bottle.  Give the 2013 Rosella's Chardonnay until mid 2015 to allow the vineyard character to start coming out, although it will be enjoyable upon its release in late 2014.
